This isn't a job, this is a passion

I'm passionate about supporting people thorugh different life transitions, and helping women as we move beyond menopause, navigate changes, and embrace the opportunities that come with age.

I'm a woman in midlife barrelling towards 60. My least favourite question is "how do you describe yourself?" and so I would answer that by saying things like, I am a herbalist, a coach, a teacher of ways to live a compassionate life that is connected to nature and the people and communities we love. I'm an artist and author of 50 Things to Help when Life Changes. I'm not a gym bunny, and I love to cook... almost as much as I love working with nature to help others as they navigate life transitions.

Always learning

Growing up in the countryside in England and New Zealand gave me the opportunity to create deep bonds with the healing power of nature. From an early age I've tapped into this connection for my own healing and wellbeing. And now in midlife - well that connection really comes into its own and I love sharing it with others.

I'm hugely curious. I love deepening knowledge and understanding as much as I can. Over many years now, I've trained in a range of complementary fields including herbalism, end of life care, coaching, mentoring, trauma-informed expressive arts therapy, nature-based expressive arts therapy, massage therapy, reiki, shamanism, and spirituality.

Passing Knowledge On

For someone who spend most of their time tucked away in an apothecary, I actually love the experience of engaging with people in-person at workshops, conferences and online sessions!

Luckily in my previous career, I had to do a lot of public speaking (and often in some quite crunchy situations!) and this has set me in good stead for getting up in front of people and doing my thing.

Since launching Archeus, I've run numerous workshops and online courses over the years in topics rangng from herbalism, plant energetics and ecotherapy, to end of life care. Over the years I have also given talks and taught internationally too - more of that coming up in 2025 which is exciting.

I'm a certified menopause coach, an end of life doula, and in the process of being registered as a clinical hypnotherapist. I offer coaching at georginalangdale.com.

This is a photo of me (L) with the fabulous Nici Wickes doing an event for F.A.W.C. called Eating Beauty.

Before this there was that

I haven't always 'done' Archeus. It was returning to New Zealand to care for my ageing parents created the impetus and opportunity to establish Archeus in 2013. I'd been living in the UK and Europe for over 20 years and there's nothing like moving 12,000 miles to create a moment for new beginnings!

Before then, my professional career included working in radio, television and print. I've done a bunch of senior roles including running a cultural communications agency in London, working for the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew, and at the United Nations Environment Programme in Germany.

I'm really grateful for that previous experience. I understand the pressures that come with big jobs (especially ones that also involve a lot of travel and deadlines) and I think this also helpd me with many of my coaching clients, especially women in midlife thinking about career and who they are, and who they want to be.

Working at Kew Gardens - for a herbalist and lover of the ways in which we can connect to nature, that really was bucket list material!

But now, Archeus lets me draw on all these experiences and create a business that is heart-centred and reflects the ways in we we change as we grow older.

Compassionate care

Recognising death as part of the life cycle opens the door to compassionate ways of navigating this sacred transition. Understanding the practical things we can do to lessen the complexity of this time, and becoming aware of ways we can deepen connections can be truly empowering and make so much difference to the way we navigate our own health changes, or support a loved one through theirs.

The thing is, we often have to go through great grief, pain and loss to figure that out. In the process we can learn more about love than we ever thought possible.

My own experience of this sent me on a long and fulfilling journey training with extraordinary people and organisations like the Conscious Dying Collective in Colorado, Frank Ostaseski, Dale Borglum and the Zen Centre for Contemplative Care. I even trained for a couple of years as a spiritual counsellor with the OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation in the UK.

Over the past decade I've gone on to craft products, courses, and coaching programs to support compassionate, contemplative and nature-based care in life, and at the end of life.

I have some new offerings in this space launching in 2025.

The Art of Living

Like so many women, I've found that midlife has been a bit of rollercoaster so far. But it has also been incredibly empowering. It's things like that ol'menopause transition, health changes, bereavement, relationship changes, geographical changes that forces one to think about what we wnat in life, and the things and people that matter to us.

Part of my art of living, is giving huge amounts of love and attention to creating products and offering services such as coaching, here at Archeus. It is a way of combining knowledge, creativity and compassion to do what I can to help others.

On the odd occasion I am not in the Archeus apothecary, I can be found with my husband and our ridiculously indulged dog, Bonnie.

I also love to paint, watch arty films and to be in nature. Oh and quite possibly watch some rubbish on Netflix.
